Weld RE-4 Board of Education Member Aaron Smith submitted his resignation, effective immediately, on Sunday, Nov. 13, citing personal reasons. The Board of Education officially accepted the resignation and declared the vacancy at its November 14 meeting

Smith was elected to the Board of Education in 2021 through Director District A. The Board will fill the vacant seat by appointment to serve through November 2023, at which point the appointee will run for re-election.

Applications for consideration of appointment will be available at the District Office, 1020 Main Street, between the weekday hours of 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Applications with the accompanying signed affidavit are due by 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at the District Office. The signed affadavit will be completed in person when the application is submitted at the District Office. Qualified candidates will be interviewed by the Board in a public meeting in early January, with selection at the conclusion of the interview date.
