Josh Mallicoat has accepted the position of principal at the new middle school in Windsor. This new school — built with funds from the 2022 bond measure — will open in fall 2025.
Mr. Mallicoat hails from La Crescent, Minn., serving as the principal of the La Crescent Middle School since 2017. Prior to this role, Mallicoat was the West Salem High School principal and the Middle and High School principal of MarMac Community School District. Mallicoat earned his bachelor’s in Education from Viterbo University and his master’s in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University.
He has a proven track record of creating a supportive learning environment for students and a positive staff culture throughout his career. This resulted in the expansion of Career & Technical programs, partnerships with area organizations, and an increase in student academic achievement. Mr. Mallicoat was awarded the Breaking Barriers Award from the State of Iowa for his work in reducing achievement gaps between general education students and students receiving special education services. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our district, as well as a servant-leadership mindset that is committed to helping students succeed.
He will begin his new role on July 8, 2024, working over the course of the 2024 - 2025 school year to prepare for the opening of the new campus, which will include extensive community engagement.
