Tozer Primary School Learning Coach / Librarian Kelsey Emery has earned the Colorado Department of Education’s (CDE) Highly Effective Schools Through Libraries designation, one of only 21 librarians in the state with the designation.

Emery will be recognized by CDE staff members at 11 a.m. March 27 at Tozer Primary School, 501 Oak St., Windsor, Colo.

The designation recognizes outstanding school library programs and school library professionals, as well as provides guidance in school librarianship best practices.

To achieve the Highly Effective Schools Through Libraries designation, Emery earned five different credentials in the areas of Planning, Instruction, Leadership, Environment, and Management. Emery is the only school librarian in the district to have earned all five credentials and the Highly Effective Schools Through Libraries designation.

“There are very few schools across the state that have received this designation of all five credentials from CDE,” said District Librarian Mollie Amundson. “We are extremely proud of Kelsey’s accomplishments, and the knowledge and skills she brings to our team.”

Emery has been a Learning Coach / Librarian at Tozer Primary School for five years. Prior to her role as an instructional and library leader at Tozer, she was a literacy and math interventionist and first-grade teacher at the school. Emery earned her bachelor’s in Educational Technology from Mount Saint Mary College, as well as a master’s in Reading from the University of Northern Colorado with certifications in Elementary and Special Education.
