Severance High Groundbreaking February 28

The Weld RE-4 School District will hold the groundbreaking ceremony of the Severance High School addition and Career & Technical Education Center from 4 - 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 1200 Hidden Valley Pkwy., Severance, Colo.

The ceremony will include brief remarks by school officials and local dignitaries, an official groundbreaking, and light refreshments.

These projects are the result of community support of a November 2022 $271-million bond package

Addition Project

The Severance High addition is a planned expansion to the campus, adding 42,239 sq. ft. and bringing the total school capacity to 1,200 students. The additional wing, or “pod,” will house 18 classrooms, including flexible learning spaces and science labs, a culinary kitchen with catering prep space, teacher work rooms, collaboration space, and conference rooms.

Career & Technical Education Center Project

To provide our students with dedicated space for in-demand, hands-on technical education classes, we look to construct a 25,724-square-foot Career & Technical Education Center. This state-of-the-art addition to the northwest side of the school building will include:

  • Welding shop with attached classroom and storage for materials and tools
  • Agricultural science lab
  • Greenhouse
  • Diesel mechanic shop
  • Staff offices

Construction is slated to be complete on the projects in 2025.
