A beam signing ceremony will be held from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the new elementary school site in the Peakview neighborhood (550 Sundance Dr., Windsor, Colo.).
Community members are invited to the open-house style event to “leave their mark” on the new building. Guests will have the opportunity to sign a steel beam of the building and meet the principal, Shelly Butcher. Light refreshments will be served.
This elementary school project is the result of community support of a $271-million bond package in November 2022. The school will accommodate 600 K-5 students with plans that include:
-
75,000 sq. ft.
-
100-student Small Learning Communities (SLCs), stacked two stories, that include student gathering space, technology resources, and teacher workrooms / support offices
-
Centralized Media Hub and STEM Laboratory
-
Fitness / wellness, music / stage, and cafeteria that are close in proximity to promote afterhour use and to be used as the central social gathering locations for students
-
Teacher workrooms and administrative support offices
