The Welding Technology program is designed to prepare students for career opportunities in welding and fabrication. Skilled welders are always in demand. Welding Technology programming is delivered through a three-component design that provides students:
- Classroom / laboratory instruction (contextual learning)
- Work-based learning / Industry Sponsored Projects
- Personal development through SkillsUSA
Skills are developed in the following methodologies:
- Safety procedures
- Oxyacetylene welding and torch cutting
- Plasma cutting
- Shielded metal ARC welding (stick welding)
- Gas metal and flux core arc (MIG welding)
- Gas tungsten arc welding (TIG welding)
- Pipe welding
- Metallurgy
- Metal fabrication and machining

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry, working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce and that every student excels. SkillsUSA serves students who are enrolled in programs preparing them for technical, skilled, and service careers. SkillsUSA adds to students’ technical training by teaching leadership skills, teamwork, citizenship, and character development — all things that go into shaping responsible, reliable employees who will one day become leaders in our workplaces.
