Achieve academic proficiency and Character education to ensure student success

We believe that our students need both Academic Proficiency and Life Skills in order to educate the whole child. This is encompassed in the work of our Graduate Profile, where every grade level is oriented towards the five skills we look for our graduates to embody: Create, Evaluate, Relate, Advocate, and Participate. All staff support students in this work, preparing them for the world beyond our walls.

We will accomplish this priority by:

1. Ensuring a guaranteed and viable curriculum, including intervention and advanced

• Status: In Progress
• The Instruction Department finalized the adoption of 6th - 8th-grade Science (AMTA), 6th - 8th-grade Math (Carnegie Learning), and 9th - 11th-grade Math (McGraw-Hill Reveal Math) curriculum.
• Middle School Science teachers developed a scope and sequence guiding document to accompany the new Science curriculum.
• First and 2nd-grade report card templates have been finalized, which focus grading on key grade-level standards in each content.
• Common assessments are ready for use in middle and high school Social Studies, as well as high school English Language Arts.
• A revised set of priority standards, cross-walked to key CMAS, PSAT, SAT, and Renaissance data, has been finalized for 6th - 12th-grade English Language Arts.

2. Using high impact instructional strategies in every classroom

• Status: In Progress
• The Professional Learning Department is planning for Science of Learning Foundations 2 trainings for leaders and instructional coaches. Foundations 1 will be offered as an asynchronous course.
• Six schools will have the Professional Learning team present on the Science of Learning to staff next year.
• Learning Coaches will continue to expand student-centered coaching cycles that focus on using high-impact instructional strategies to move learning forward.
• The Instruction Department has adopted an in-depth curriculum professional learning plan for AMTA (middle school Science) and Carnegie Learning (middle school Math). AMTA will undergo a weeklong institute at the end of July 2026 along with several follow-up sessions throughout the 2026 - 2027 school year. Carnegie Learning will have two onboarding days in July, as well as several in-person and virtual coaching sessions, site visits, and other supports throughout the 2026 - 2027 school year.

3. Providing ongoing training and professional learning for staff

• Status: In Progress
• Planning is underway to continue work in the 2026 - 2027 school year. Additional professional learning opportunities included expanded KickUp course offerings, CPI sessions, and the continuation of personalized pathways (Independent Study, Team Study, Lead-a-Course, and Out-of-District), reinforced through induction and mentoring, coaching support, and re-licensure coursework, including behavioral health.
• Ongoing professional learning continued through the summer through the professional learning pathways and newly developed summer institutes (Science of Learning, Leadership, and Aspiring Leaders).

4. Fully implement character education

• Status: In Progress
• The team is evaluating key components of character education and exploring ways to further character educational opportunities in the classroom for a variety of topics for 2026 - 2027.
