The Best of Both Worlds: School and Career

Our goal is simple: equip students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need to graduate ready for their future (whatever they hope for it to be).

At Weld RE-4, our Career & College Readiness programs offer students real skills, real experience, and real options for their future. By leveraging strong partnerships with local and regional businesses, colleges, and community organizations, we ensure students have access to authentic learning experiences that prepare them for what comes next.

Real Programs. Real Opportunities. Real Results.

Preparing students for life after high school requires more than traditional classroom instruction, it demands real-world experiences, practical skills, and opportunities to explore different career paths.

Students gain the knowledge, skills, and exploration needed to actively pursue college or careers (or both) by participating in one or more of these offerings:

(Hyperlinks in the text below open in a new window.)

  • Concurrent Enrollment - Allows high school students to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously, giving them a head start on their degree while saving time and money.
  • Career & Technical Education (CTE) - Provides hands-on training and industry-recognized certifications in high-demand fields, preparing students to enter the workforce immediately after graduation.
  • Work-based Learning - connects students with real workplace experiences through internships and apprenticeships, allowing them to build professional skills, explore careers, and strengthen their resumes before graduation. Our strong industry and post-secondary partnerships also open the doors for many students.

Whether students are college-bound, career-focused, or still exploring their options, these programs provide the discovery tools, key credentials, and learning experiences they need to confidently step into their next chapter.

And better yet, students are not locked into one path.  A student can explore a career pathway and attend college. They can earn college credit and simultaneously gain work experience.

The Bottom Line: More Than a Diploma

The Career & College Readiness programs at Weld RE-4 offers students, while they are still in high school, the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, earn college credit, and learn how classroom experiences connect to real careers. Important skills are developed, such as critical thinking, adaptability, leadership, financial literacy, and digital proficiency, while students also discover what they enjoy and where their strengths lie.

By graduation, students will have:

  • A clear plan for their next steps
  • Valuable experiences that build their resume
  • College credits or industry certifications already earned
  • Professional connections in fields that interest them
  • Confidence and skills to succeed in college, career, or both

Real experiences. Real preparation. The Career & College Readiness programs connect students to meaningful learning that makes the path beyond high school clear, achievable, and exciting.
