• Get Involved in Planning & Advising: Build a resume, complete online interest surveys, and manage timelines and deadlines for college and career choices.
• Research Colleges & Training Programs: Compare GPAs, standardized test scores, and statistics against historical admission data from past Weld RE-4 graduates.
• Access Work-Based Learning: Connect with local job opportunities, internships, and hands-on learning experiences to build real-world skills.

Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP)

All students in grades 9 through 12 complete an Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) to build and maintain a personalized postsecondary strategy. ICAPs help students and families explore opportunities by connecting self-discovery with practical academic choices. Each year, students complete guided lessons and align their course schedule in Xello with their evolving career and life goals.

Life beyond high school is evolving rapidly. Most jobs in Colorado require additional education or training past high school, with fewer positions available for high school graduates than at any point in state history. In fact, projections indicate that by 2031, roughly three out of four jobs in Colorado (or 73%) will need advanced training or credentials. To succeed, graduates need targeted, in-demand skills that meet business and higher education standards.

ICAP is a multi-year process that intentionally guides career and academic exploration. By linking career assessments directly to annual course registration, students look inside (discovering passions) and look outside (selecting matching class offerings and real-world experiences) to design a powerful, clear pathway to success.
