We are committed to maintaining a strong, up-to-date curriculum that reflects the needs of our students. Below is an overview of our curriculum review process and the priorities that guide our decision-making:
What subjects are already complete?
Some subject areas have already gone through our full curriculum review process. These subjects are now being taught consistently across all schools in the district.
What subjects are still in progress?
Other subjects are currently on our roadmap for review and improvement. We follow a regular schedule to ensure that every subject area is reviewed and updated over time.
How are teachers involved in curriculum selection?
Teachers play an essential role in reviewing materials, trying out new curriculum programs, and sharing their feedback. Their experience and insights help shape what we use in classrooms.
How are parents involved in curriculum decisions?
We value input from families. Parents have opportunities to share feedback through surveys, focus groups, and public input sessions to help guide curriculum decisions.
How do we know what’s working and what needs improvement?
We use a variety of tools—such as student assessments, classroom observations, and teacher input—to understand what’s working well and where we may need to make changes.
Supporting Student Learning and Consistent Teaching
Students are learning essential skills
Our curriculum focuses on the most important skills and knowledge students need at each grade level to succeed now and in the future.
We check student progress throughout the year
Teachers assess learning regularly to ensure students are making progress. This allows us to provide additional support when needed.
Teaching is consistent across classrooms
Students in the same grade level are learning the same core concepts, no matter which classroom they are in. This helps create fairness and clarity for students and families.
We follow a clear plan for the school year
Teachers use a pacing guide to ensure all key topics are taught throughout the year. If more time is needed on a topic, teachers can adjust and communicate that need.
Teachers collaborate and keep learning
Teachers work together regularly to plan lessons, review student progress, and participate in professional development. This collaboration helps ensure high-quality teaching across our district.
Students are engaged and involved in learning
We want students to feel curious, challenged, and motivated. We regularly review their work and listen to their feedback to keep learning relevant and exciting.
Ongoing Curriculum Improvement
Curriculum is reviewed and updated on a regular cycle
Each subject area is reviewed and refreshed approximately every six years. This allows us to make improvements based on results and current best practices.
We use both digital and physical learning materials
Our district aims for a healthy mix of digital tools and printed materials. Some programs are fully digital, while others rely more on physical textbooks—especially in the younger grades. We choose materials that best support meaningful and age-appropriate instruction for students and teachers.
