Transfer Grades

Transcripts for students who transfer in from other districts will be evaluated for weighted grading status on a case-by-case basis. Only Advanced Placement and Concurrent Enrollment courses that meet or exceed AP® standards will be considered for weighted status at the school’s discretion.

External Credit Recognition

Weld RE-4 recognizes with the growth of online courses and opportunities that students and families may wish to take advantage of these to continue their learning. In order for these experiences to be documented on the official Weld RE-4 transcript, the following requirements must be met.

This procedure applies to the following types of courses or students:

  • Summer courses taken from other institutions that students wish to transfer to their Weld RE-4 school and count for credit.
  • The district did not approve participation.
  • The district is not paying any costs associated with the course.

This procedure does not apply to the following types of courses or students:

  • Concurrent, Career Academy or online courses that are part of the regular offerings of the Weld RE-4 School District.
  • Students who are officially transferring from another school. The normal transcript review process will be in place for these students.

Approval Parameters

  • A maximum of 4.0 high school credit hours may be accepted from students who are otherwise enrolled at least part time in a Weld RE-4 high school. A typical one year (two semester) course earns 1.0 high school credit.
  • Accepted courses must be taken from an accredited institution. Accreditation could be from the state of Colorado or regional accreditation agencies recognized by the Colorado Department of Education or the Colorado Department of Higher Education.
  • In order to be transcripted, a course must be submitted and approved by the student’s counselor, a school administrator and the Director of Instruction. Request for External Credit Recognition: Severance High School Windsor High School
  • An appeal can be made to accept credit from a non-accredited institution to the Director of Instruction of the Weld RE-4 School District. The appeal needs to be a written request and address the content and/or skills learned and how it aligns with the student’s postsecondary goals.
  • Courses must be submitted within one year of completion.
  • Once courses are transcribed, they become part of the student’s official record of courses and cannot be removed.
