Guest Teacher Orientation

Guest substitute teachers (Certified Substitutes) that are new to the district and have not yet participated in an orientation are asked to complete our online course, Guest Teacher Orientation. Topics included in the course include:

  • Systems and procedures

  • Classroom management and behavior

  • Instructional resources

  • Dress code

  • Legal reminders

Any newly activated substitutes that complete the course will be paid for two hours at the current rate.

If you are a newly hired sub, you do not need to take this class before you begin working. However, we ask that you complete the course within the academic year.

Substitute Boot Camp

Provided by the Colorado Department of Education, the Substitute Boot Camp is a free, virtual course specifically designed to support, assist, and encourage substitute teachers with starting their first day on the job. Participants will learn about:

  • Understanding and executing academic lesson plans

  • Preparing lesson plans when lesson plans aren't available

  • Classroom management

  • Maintaining appropriate student records, including recording grades

  • School policy and emergency response
