Preschool helps set our students up to thrive in school and in our world.

Through our preschool program, students not only develop traditional academic skills, but also social and emotional skills appropriate to their developmental level. Participation in a preschool environment that is rich in play, activities, learning, and positive social interactions helps students transition to elementary school with a solid foundation.

Our preschool classes are embedded in our elementary schools — Grandview Elementary, Hollister Lake Elementary, Orchard Hill Elementary, Skyview School of STEM, and Tozer Primary School — which provide a seamless transition to the K - 12 learning environment. We offer morning or afternoon sessions that meet four days each week (Monday through Thursday).

Preschool is offered to students age 3 by October 1 of the year they enroll through age 5 by October 1. Special Education students may differ and are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Universal Preschool (UPK)

Through the State of Colorado's Universal Preschool (UPK) Program, your family will be able to receive free preschool education for your child. Please note: there are a limited number of spots available in our district's preschool program. Due to capacity and staffing constraints, our program participants will be limited to approximately 10 hours per week.

UPK Colorado will provide families with preschool options that best fit the needs of your student and family, like school-based, licensed community-based, or home-based settings. All preschool families will need to submit an application through the UPK portal. Get step-by-step instructions on how to utilize the portal.

Universal Preschool Registration 2024 - 2025

Current Preschool Families

Children that are current students, children with siblings currently enrolled, or who have a parent or guardian currently employed at our site can “match” with us directly! You should have received an email to confirm your preferred school location and session, as well as a direct link to match with our location.

Families New to UPK

All children in the year before kindergarten (4 years old by October 1) are eligible for up to 15 hours of funding per week — and potentially more. Please see the 2024 - 2025 Universal Preschool Family Handbook for more information. Families new to UPK will be matched with one of their top 10 preferred providers during matching rounds in April and July. To apply, find our school profile at upk.colorado.gov, select us as a preferred provider, and submit your registration.

Students Receiving Special Education Services

Spots are reserved in our preschool program for those students who have special needs or significant concerns with their developmental or educational progress.

Our trained and certified professionals evaluate children for these concerns through a service called Child Find. Learn more about Child Find and preschool special education.
