Seal of Biliteracy

Language is a powerful and essential tool to “engage, educate, and empower” students in a multilingual world.

One way we look to foster multilingual skills is through the opportunity to earn a Seal of Biliteracy. During high school, students may earn a seal through one of two pathways during their senior year of high school: 1) Colorado High School Seal of Biliteracy or 2) the Weld RE-4 Seal of Biliteracy. This seal will appear on the transcript and diploma of the graduating senior, and is a statement of accomplishment for future employers and for college admission.

Why Pursue the Seal of Biliteracy?

  • Values multilingualism
  • Prepares our students for college and career
  • Recognizes the importance of cultural and linguistic identity
  • Certifies proficiency in biliteracy
  • Prepares students with 21st-century skills that will benefit them in post-secondary opportunities in a global society
  • Provides employers, universities, grants, and scholarships with a method to recognize applicants for their dedication to attainment of high academic skills in two or more languages
