About Weld RE-4 Credit Recovery

General Information & Eligibility: What is Credit Recovery?

Credit recovery allows students to retake a course they previously failed to earn the necessary academic credit for graduation. It is a remedial tool; students may not enroll in these courses as a preemptive measure to get ahead or if they withdrew from a class (WF or NG).

General Information & Eligibility: Does my student need credit recovery?

This program is for currently enrolled Weld RE-4 students who have failed at least one semester of a course required for graduation.

    • Note for Athletes: These courses are not NCAA-approved. If your student plans to compete in NCAA sports in college, please consult a counselor for alternative options.
    • Non-District Students: Only students currently enrolled in a Weld RE-4 school are eligible.
General Information & Eligibility: Can this be used to "get ahead" on credits?

No. Edmentum is currently authorized for credit recovery purposes only and is not set up for original instruction.

Enrollment & Access: How do I enroll my student?

Please complete the Weld RE-4 Credit Recovery Registration Form prior to the assigned deadline for the upcoming session. Sessions run during Quarters 2, 3, 4, and over the summer. Refer to the Weld RE-4 Credit Recovery Calendar for specific dates.

Enrollment & Access: How do students access their courses?

Once registration is complete and fees are paid, students will receive access information via email from credit.recovery@weldre4.org or ParentSquare.

Enrollment & Access: Why can't I log in immediately after paying?

The verification process for courses and fees is manual. Please allow a 24–48 hour waiting period for courses to be unlocked in the Edmentum system after all requirements (including orientation) are met.

Enrollment & Access: Can a student take multiple courses at once?

Students may enroll in one course at a time. Once a course is successfully completed, an additional course may be requested through a mentor teacher or counselor.

Course Structure & Expectations: How do the courses work?

Each semester of a school-year class is treated as one "course."

    • Example: If a student passed Semester 1 but failed Semester 2, they need one credit recovery course. If they failed both semesters, they need two.
Course Structure & Expectations: What are the completion requirements?

To recover credit, a student must complete 100% of the coursework (including all exams) with a minimum score of 60% on all mastery and post-test exams and the final exam.

Course Structure & Expectations: Are there set login times?

No. The program is flexible and self-paced. However, students must finish all work within the designated session dates. A mentor teacher will check in weekly to ensure the student is maintaining a manageable pace.

Course Structure & Expectations: What are the technical requirements?

Students must use a district-issued Chromebook and have internet to access the Edmentum application platform. If technical issues arise, the student should contact their mentor teacher, who will act as a liaison with the Technology Department.

Fees & Financial Assistance: What are the associated fees?
    • Standard Course: $100 per course/session.
    • Final Exam-Only: $100 (Available only for students who earned a 50%–59.49% in the original classroom course). The student has ONE opportunity to pass the Final Exam with a 60% or better. If unsuccessful, students must complete the entire course.
    • Carry-Over Fee: $25. This applies if a student completed at least 80% of a course in the immediate previous session but needs one additional session to finish.
Fees & Financial Assistance: Are discounts or scholarships available?
    • Free/Reduced Lunch: Upon verification, the rate is reduced to $70 per course.
    • Scholarships: Students may apply for a $50 scholarship during registration. The student must complete the application in their own words. Scholarships are limited to one per student per school year.
Fees & Financial Assistance: What is the refund policy?

Refunds are not available once a course has started. If fees are not paid within two weeks of the session start date, the student will be dropped from the session. For emergency circumstances, please contact credit.recovery@weldre4.org.

Support & Accommodations: How can parents track progress?

Parents will receive an invitation to Edmentum Sensei, providing real-time access to assignments and grades. Additionally, mentor teachers send weekly progress updates.

Support & Accommodations: How are IEP or 504 accommodations handled?

Accommodations are available within the Edmentum platform. We recommend discussing this with your student’s service provider to ensure this online format is the best fit for their needs.

Testing & Results: How is the Final Exam administered?

Final exams must be completed in person with a mentor teacher.

    • Virtual Testing: In rare, pre-approved circumstances, virtual testing may be allowed via the Edmentum application platform and Google Meet, with the camera and video remaining on for the duration of the 75-minute exam.
Testing & Results: What grade will appear on the transcript?

The original failing grade remains on the transcript. The new grade earned through credit recovery will be added as a separate entry to show the credit has been satisfied.

Testing & Results: What if the Edmentum course title looks different?

Because Edmentum is an external provider, titles may vary slightly from our local course catalog. However, all courses are district-vetted and aligned with state standards to ensure they cover the essential skills needed for advancement.
