A Monthly Note from Superintendent Scallon
October 31, 2025
Dear Weld RE-4 Families, In August, I shared a few highlights from the release of our State Assessment reports. I want to expand further in this month's letter. First, I want to commend our students and staff on a job well done. Their hard work last year is obvious in the results of both academic achievement and growth, and our strategic efforts to Engage. Educate. Empower. continue to move the needle.
Highlights
Achievement
We outperformed the state in the percent of students meeting or exceeding expectations in the following areas:
- CMAS English Language Arts (+6.3%)
 - CMAS Math (+9.5%)
 - CMAS Science (+9.5%)
 - PSAT 9 / PSAT 10 / SAT Evidence-Based Reading & Writing (+5.8%)
 - PSAT 9 / PSAT 10 / SAT Math (+5.8%)

Growth
In the area of academic growth, we outperformed the state in the following areas:
- 11th-grade SAT Evidence-Based Reading & Writing (+2 percentile points)
 - 11th-grade SAT Math (+2 percentile points)
 - 6th - 8th-grade Math (+6 percentile points)
 - 4th-grade English Language Arts (+2 percentile points)

The data on growth and academic achievement are used, with other criteria, to determine our accreditation status and rating. I am proud to share that we continue to be an accredited district, increasing our preliminary Performance Framework score by 3.2% and earning our highest score since 2019.
Next Steps
In addition to our focused efforts in literacy, we look to add targeted work in math, elementary structured literacy, and elementary writing. We also look to begin strategic work to increase both academic achievement and growth for our students with disabilities.
We know our work to help our students thrive academically is not done in isolation. Thank you for everything you do to support your children's education. From study sessions at the kitchen table to late-night science projects, we see all that you are doing and know that it is making a difference.
With Gratitude,
Michelle Scallon
