Personal Communication Device Guidelines

To foster an engaging environment and minimize driver distraction, unmonitored, internet-ready devices should remain put away during the ride.

  • Storage: All phones and electronic devices must be silenced and kept completely out of sight in a backpack or pocket.
  • Prohibited Use: Talking on the phone, texting, using social media, and taking photos or recording videos are expressly forbidden to protect student privacy and prevent driver distraction. Any illegal or disruptive use of a device is strictly prohibited.
  • Headphones: Students may use headphones or earbuds to listen to audio, provided the device itself remains stowed and the volume is low enough that others cannot hear it.
  • Exemptions: Devices may be used in the event of a true emergency. Students who require a device for medical monitoring (e.g., glucose tracking) or as part of an active IEP / 504 plan are exempt from storage restrictions.
  • Accountability: The school is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of any personal electronic devices brought onto the bus.
