A Monthly Note from Superintendent Scallon
November 26, 2024
Dear Weld RE-4 Families,
As I reflect during this season of gratitude, I am thankful for many things:
- Our Children — They are full of promise and constantly amaze us with their accomplishments large and small. We witness these efforts through placing at FFA Nationals, standing ovations at SHS' "Beauty and the Beast," or exceeding the state average by 7.5% in CMAS English Language Arts, 8.4% in CMAS Math, 11.5% in CMAS Science, and 53 points on the SAT.
- Our Staff — These talented individuals go the extra mile to make sure that your children receive a high quality education, as well as that they are genuinely care for. They come in early and stay late, helping students, grading papers, and providing extra opportunities for clubs and activities.
- Our Community — We are blessed to live in a community that rallies behind our schools. Whether it's supporting fundraisers for the football team, employing a student in work-based learning, or attending the recent theatre production, our community goes above and beyond.
It's important to me that we continue to invest in these important groups who mean so much to our schools. We're intentionally and thoughtfully working towards three strategic plan priorities that will help move our district forward over the next five years in pursuit of our mission to Engage. Educate. Empower:
- ENGAGE: Strengthen trust to cultivate sustainable partnerships in pursuit of student success
- EDUCATE: Achieve academic proficiency and Character education to ensure student success
- EMPOWER: Foster quality staff to provide stability and instruction to optimize student success
Over the next few months, I will share more details around each of the three priorities. I would invite you to visit our webpage to learn more about each area and stay connected with our quarterly progress updates.
Last, but not least, I know the holiday season may be challenging for some families. You are not alone; we have resources and connections across our community. For support, contact your school counselor(s) or district Social Worker Erin Sullivan-Ortiz.
I cannot express how thankful I am to live in this wonderful community and to work alongside each of you in support of our students. Thank you for all that you do each and every day.
With Gratitude,
Michelle Scallon Superintendent
