The Instruction Department supports schools and classroom teachers in maximizing student learning and success, ensuring a high-quality education for all 8,000+ students in the Weld RE-4 School District.

Instruction

Instruction is both an art and a science. Our teachers use data to personalize learning and provide feedback, facilitate relevant connections, and teach relevant skills (science), while developing relationships, learning students’ context and interests, and gathering feedback (art). We foster both art and science through extensive professional development offerings.

As part of our high school curricular offerings, Weld RE-4 provides alternative instruction courses to better meet students' needs. Curriculum

Teachers develop our curriculum based on the individual needs of our students. These efforts are centered on the Colorado Academic Standards, a road map to help ensure students are successful in college, careers, and life. Our curriculum is selected through a rigorous vetting process conducted by the Curriculum Review Task Force and approved by the Board of Education, providing teachers with the best materials possible (textbooks, digital content, and equipment) to support your children’s education. Libraries

Our school libraries are an essential component of the Instruction Department. In addition to supporting literacy, libraries provide access to information and resources, support student wellbeing, and extend and apply classroom learning. Assessments

We use multiple formal and informal assessments to review student progress. These assessments diagnose learning gaps, provide a "snapshot" of student learning, and give staff the information needed to improve instruction or recommend support services. State & Federal Programs

Title I —Title I provides additional funding resources based on socioeconomic factors. This program helps ensure all children meet rigorous state academic standards, regardless of income. Learn More about Title I.

Colorado READ Act — The READ Act focuses on early literacy development for all students, especially those at risk of not reading at grade level by the end of the third grade. The act requires educator training, student assessments, individual intervention plans, and district reporting and accountability.
