Our curriculum, or plan of study, is developed by teachers based on the individual needs of our students. These efforts are centered on the Colorado Academic Standards, so that students are able to demonstrate similar skills and knowledge at the end of each school year. Ultimately, the standards provide a road map to help ensure students are successful in college, careers, and life.

Colorado has 10 content areas for our academic standards:

  1. Music

  2. Visual arts

  3. Drama and theatre arts

  4. Dance

  5. Comprehensive health and physical education

  6. Mathematics

  7. Reading, writing, and communicating

  8. Science

  9. Social studies

  10. World languages

Within these content areas, the state standards prioritize rigor, relevancy, relationships, and disciplinary literacy.

The district and schools provide resources, as feasible, so that teachers are able to utilize the best materials possible. This may include traditional textbooks, digital content, and lab equipment.

If you have questions about curriculum please contact your child's school or Amy Heinsma, Director of Instruction, at 970-686-8028.
