The Board of Education appointed Patrick Miller as the new Director for District D at a special meeting on Thursday, Jan. 6. A swearing in will be held at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at the Windsor High School Auditorium. 

Miller will serve the duration of the vacated seat’s term, through November 2023, at which time the seat will go before voters for election.

A Controller for Hach Company in Loveland, Miller oversees the accounting, and financial planning and analysis for the company’s US and Canadian entities. He and his wife Dara are parents of a child in the school district, and have lived in District D for more than five years.

Miller has previous experience serving communities through board positions, including roles as the Clerk of the Bagdad, Ariz., Unified School District, and as a Board Member of the Challis, Idaho Joint School District. He has also served on the Town Board of Adjustment and homeowner’s association board, in addition to volunteering at his child’s school.

A vacancy for Director District Seat D was declared by the Board on Monday, Nov. 22, following the resignation of Jen Lieber. The district received nine applications, and eight applicants chose to proceed with the in-person interviews on January 6.

Applicants were required to have lived in the Weld RE-4 School District boundary for at least 12 consecutive months prior to November 2021, be a registered voter, reside within the Director District Seat D boundary, and have never been convicted of a sexual offense against a child.
