In Weld RE-4, collaboration is an important factor in the success of our students and our school district. We could not effectively navigate the tremendous growth in our community without close collaboration with the towns in our district. Public safety entities, including fire and law enforcement agencies, are also critical partners in ensuring the wellbeing and safety of our students and families. In the past, we have had the opportunity to help make our towns and firefighters safer. We hosted the
Windsor-Severance Fire Rescue in the WHS fireside room so that they could test new masks in a simulated fire call prior to the demolition of the building in the summer of 2017.

Collaboration around community safety extends to our work with the Windsor Police Department (WPD), which employs the district’s crossing guards and our School Resource Officer (SRO). Whether having lunch with elementary students at Mountain View or interacting with high school students, the relationships the SRO is developing are inspiring our students to think about careers in law enforcement and keeping a focus on the safety of all our school campuses. Similarly, Weld County Sheriff’s Deputies and their K-9, Loki, have met with second- and third-grade students at Range View to educate them on how important it is to follow the law and to talk with them about why they love their jobs.

Another collaboration benefiting Weld RE-4 students is our partnership with the Clearview Library District (CLD). District educators and CLD library staff are working together to offer students opportunities to participate in book clubs, create broadcast productions, and engage in maker program activities. We are incredibly fortunate that our local library district is so invested in our students. Library staff reinforce our district's efforts around literacy and computer science by regularly visiting our schools to help students find books they like and to share the latest robotics equipment.

These are just a few examples of Weld RE-4 partnerships. In addition, and similar to the SRO position, we have partnered with North Range Behavioral Health, to add a dedicated mental health resource to our schools. Every year, organizations throughout our community support our students through sponsorships and scholarships. The Weld RE-4 Education Foundation raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for our schools. The Windsor Chamber of Commerce has a dedicated web page for Weld RE-4 employee discounts. We are grateful for all of our partners and the many ways in which they support us.
