Principal Chris Garcia is thrilled to join Weld RE-4 School District and lead the new high school in Severance. Joining us from Berthoud High School (BHS) where he served as principal for the past eight years, Principal Garcia brings strong leadership experience. Prior to BHS, he served as an assistant principal at Prairie View High School and Northridge High School. Principal Garcia is excited to utilize his 24 years of experience as an educator and administrator to design and shape our community’s new high school.

“I believe strongly in putting students first,” he says. “In the end, it is all about the student experience and ensuring all students have the opportunities to be successful and achieve at the highest levels. A student-centered focus is one of the things that attracted me most to this community.”

Building positive relationships with all stakeholders to create a safe, welcoming, and inspiring school culture and a program that emphasizes postsecondary readiness opportunities and partnerships is among Principal Garcia’s top priorities. Beginning in the 2017-2018 school year, he will work with the district and community on academic programming and finalizing design and construction details. School staff will be hired during the regular hiring cycle—January - August 2019—in anticipation of opening the school to serve freshmen and sophomores in August 2019.

Principal Garcia welcomes student and community input. Click here to complete a form to let him know how you would like to be involved in the planning for the new high school and/or what sports and extracurricular activities you would like students to be able to access. Principal Garcia and the Weld RE-4 School District look forward to working with the community to offer exceptional opportunities across both high schools in the school district.
